Scripted formats: the golden age of European series IP?

In partnership with the CNC

Ip Market

While remakes have existed in cinema for a long time, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that TV series truly embraced the phenomenon, with varying degrees of success. With experience, we now know that success lies in a careful balance between local adaptation and strict adherence to the original show bible, that not all series are suitable for adaptation, and that the choice of the local producer is key.
For a long time, the trend was led by Israeli series or limited to adaptations within close proximity (intra-European remakes). However, European series now seem ready to conquer the world—and they’re succeeding!
Through emblematic examples, this panel of experts will share their market insights, commercialization strategies, and vision of selling IP as a tool of European soft power. And, perhaps, a few secrets…

Session moderated by Jérémie Kessler, Director of European and International Affairs, CNC.
