While remakes have existed in cinema for a long time, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that TV series truly embraced the phenomenon, with varying degrees of success. With experience, we now know that success lies in a careful balance between local adaptation and strict adherence to the original show bible, that not all series are suitable for adaptation, and that the choice of the local producer is key.
