A surprise pregnancy makes a budding psychologist question whether she wants kids at all. She has an abortion in secret. But in a family of therapists, there are no secrets. Only acting out. Yuli, 36, is pregnant. For the first time she keeps a secret from her symbiotic husband Gaby, 34. Panicked, she’s unable to tell him - or anyone - and has an abortion behind his back. When she finally cracks, Yuli blurts out that she may not want to be a mother at all. Even though Gaby is a beta-male gender studies professor, he’s met with a sudden urge to procreate. He (apologetically) lays down an ultimatum: a baby or a divorce. Fearing she’ll lose the love of her life, Yuli puts herself through ‘conversion therapy’. She wants to want to be a mother: Yuli sniffs strange babies’ heads; and shadows a friend on maternity leave, only to contract postpartum depression.
