Series Mania Institute launches the first call for applications for SERIAL BRIDGES – ISTANBUL – workshop.
This workshop targets a maximum of 8 duos writer/producer pairs from Turkey, Georgia or Azerbaijan with a series project. The program aims to give participants a good understanding of the international series market and, more specifically, practical advice on how to apprehend the European co-production and co-financing market better.
In pairs, the participants will be guided for five days by two mentors, in group and individual meetings.
They will also have the opportunity to meet renowned international series professionals during exclusive masterclasses.
The workshop is organized in partnership with the Institut Francais Turkey and m2lab.
TEAM ELIGIBILITY
Entries must be submitted by a team consisting of a producer and a writer or showrunner (i.e., a writing director or screenwriter-director).
To qualify as a “writer” or “showrunner”, the candidate must have either:
- written at least 2 episodes of a drama series (30/60 minutes), produced and broadcast, or
- written a series produced and broadcast on the Internet, with a total episode length of over 70 minutes, or
- be credited as writer or director of a feature film shown at an international festival and/or released in theaters.
To qualify as a “producer”, the candidate must have either:
- produced a drama series (minimum of 4 episodes of 30/60 minutes), broadcast on a TV channel or streaming platform, or
- produced a feature film shown at an international festival or in movie theaters.
PROJECT ELIGIBILITY
Projects submitted must meet the following requirements:
- Category: Series only (TV movies, feature films, etc. will not be accepted)
- Length: between 20 and 60 minutes per episode
- Genre: fiction series only (animation and documentary series are not accepted).
- Only original concepts for season 1 will be accepted. Remakes of foreign or domestic series, season 2s or series already broadcast will not be accepted.
- The project must have an international potential

The workshop schedule will be structured as follows:
Wednesday 10/07/2024: Opening of the call for applications.
Tuesday 10/09/2024 (5pm CET): Deadline for applications.
Early October 2024: Announcement of results (by e-mail to all applicants)
Monday 18/11/2024 to Friday 22/11/2024: Workshop in Istanbul (exact location to be determined)

To apply, the rules & regulations terms must be accepted.
Applications may only be submitted by teams. Individual applications are not accepted.
Only applications in English will be accepted.
To participate in the selection process, applications must be submitted online via the dedicated web page (Submissions by e-mail, post or any other means will not be accepted).
Applying and taking part in the program are free of charge.
APPLICATION FORM
When applying, each team must provide the following elements at once, as it is not possible to save and return to your application.
- A pre-bible (5 page maximum) of the series you wish to work on during the workshop. It should include a one-sentence presentation of the series (“logline”), a synopsis of the season, a description of its narrative arcs and characters, and a writer’s statement.
- A CV outlining the professional experience of each team member.
