Producing a documentary series

Series Mania Institute and EURODOC are partnering to offer a training program dedicated to the production of documentary series.

At a time when documentary series have experienced significant growth since the emergence of platforms and the rise in popularity of short formats, Series Mania Institute and Eurodoc have designed a training course tailored to the specific skills required to produce this type of series.

After the success of the first two editions, the workshop returns in September 2026. Applications will open in April 2026!

Objectives

Consolidate producers’ expertise by providing them with the tools to develop and co-produce their projects internationally.

Participants will work on the development of their projects, with a focus on:

• The story and narrative,
• Project stakes,
• Structure, budget, and financing strategy in development and production.

Methods

• Five-day mentorship with group meetings and individual sessions
• Masterclasses and case studies with experienced professionals

• Duration: 5 days
• Localisation: Series Mania Institute – 10 rue des Poissonceaux, 59800 Lille, France

Requirements :

• To be a producer with a documentary series project.
• Projects can be at different stages (writing, development, or pre-production).
• The workshop is primarily conducted in French and is reserved for French-speaking professionals.

Please note: The workshop is also open to professionals without a project, only in the case of industry professionals working for an organization or institution offering support for documentary films (program managers, support funds, etc.).
