Shot from January 22nd to 30th, discover the behind the scenes of “Galerie Désastre” (translation in English : The Disaster Gallery) created by the participants of the Tremplin 2023-2024 training program!

learning by doing: creating a mini series from A to Z

Galerie Désastre is the five-episode mini series created by the twenty young talents in the Tremplin training program.

They learned the basics of serial writing and the technical professions of the audiovisual industry through the experience of working together to produce and direct a mini series. Last January, they took part in the second module of the year on the discovery of technical professions in the audiovisual industry. A unique opportunity for them to write, direct and edit their own mini series!

Post-production will be completed at “Le Fresnoy, studio national des arts contemporains” in Tourcoing, with sound mixing and color grading at the “fabrique france.tv” in Lille.

The comedy “Galerie Désastre” will finally be screened to the public on March 22, 2024, during the Series Mania Festival.

Guided by professionals from the TV series industry

Martin Genty, director and supervisor on the set of the mini series “Galerie Désastre”

All professionals involved in the Galerie Désastre production provided supervision to ensure participants carried out their tasks effectively.

From production to post-production, directing, stage management, sound, costume design, set decoration, lighting, professionals assisted the trainees of the Tremplin 2023-2024 program through all stages of creating audiovisual work.

Anticipating needs, envisioning a tracking shot, and determining the necessary accessories for creating a contemporary art gallery—these pivotal moments led them to guide trainees towards the path of the set and professionalization. They supported trainees throughout the seven days of shooting, offering and imparting multiple insights on their visions, their mini series project, and assisting them in making the most judicious choices for project success. A unique and hybrid formulation allowing “learning by doing”.

During the recruitment process, we perceived their potential through their motivation. The accelerated training program helped reveal personalities, affirm choices, and above all, restore their self-confidence with a solid foundation for careers in the audiovisual industry. The period of shooting, intense in tasks, focus, and emotions, became, day by day, a remarkable and beautiful human adventure!” – Daphné Courbot, Pedagogical manager of the Tremplin training program at Series Mania Institute.

BUT WAIT, WHAT’S THIS MINI SERIES ALL ABOUT?

Lea, the very definition of clumsiness, works in the gallery of her young and irritating stepfather Martin as a security guard. The catch is that she hates her job as much as she dislikes Martin himself, with whom she has never gotten along. Her encounter with Jade, a strange “customer” who plans to steal a piece of art displayed in the gallery, will disrupt Lea’s dull life. Joining forces with Jade and her plan represents for Lea the perfect opportunity to get back at Martin while giving herself a chance to break free.

None of this would be possible without our partners

Series Mania Institute was able to draw on the support of a number of partners to carry out the shoot in truly professional conditions.

A big thank you to the City of Roubaix – “réseau Film Friendly” – which allowed our mini series filming teams to use the facilities of Plateau 42, where the offices of the City of Roubaix’s Cultural Directorate are located.

The casting for actors was conducted in partnership with the Conservatoire de Lille, represented by Sébastien Lenglet. It took place within the Series Mania Institute building, with over thirty applications, to select the four main roles of the mini series, filled by students from the Conservatoire de Lille.

In order to be immersed in the most realistic settings possible, the “Fabrique France TV” also provided decoration elements and accessories for the filming.
