A former student of the Ecole normale supérieure and of Harvard University, she has extensively published on ordinary language philosophy (Wittgenstein, Austin, Cavell); moral philosophy (moral perfectionism, ethics of care); classic American philosophy (Cavell, Thoreau, Emerson). Her most recent work focuses on democracy and civil disobedience; ethics of care and gender studies; and ethics of TV series.

She has been Visiting Professor at La Sapienza Roma (2019), Boston University (2019), Pontifical University Lima (2017), Visiting Researcher, Max Planck Institute, Berlin, 2014 and 2015, Distinguished Visiting Professor, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA 2011, “Chaire invitée” Facultés Saint-Louis de Bruxelles, October 2009, Visiting Professor, Johns Hopkins University, 2008, 2009.

She has lectured at various universities in USA (BU, Tufts, Harvard, Berkeley, UCLA, Duke), Canada, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Brazil, Peru, China, Japan, Taiwan, SIngapore.

She is the PI of the European Research Council Advanced Grant project DEMOSERIES https://www.demoseries.eu

DEMOSERIES explores the political and ethical teachings of Security TV Series.
