True North

Egyptian refugee Layla arrives in southern Spain, deprived of everything, and only her daughter Sima to keep her going. She encounters the human rights lawyer and activist Helena, who becomes obsessed with their case and who fights for the rights of refugees. When Sima is severely wounded in a hit-andrun accident, Layla looks for a job to make ends meet. She gets hired by the Scandinavian sisters Amanda and Isabelle who run a struggling catering business together, and have a relationship of co-dependence and sibling abuse. The sisters' destructive balance is quickly challenged by Layla, when she becomes a vital part of the business. Everything takes a turn for the extreme when Layla realises that the sisters were behind Sima’s accident, and suddenly finds herself in an unexpected position of power. Layla decides to take the matter into her own hands, and the situation spirals into blackmail and an abusive power play between the women.
