Rebel Rebel is a true story of an intense and tragic love affair between Nancy Cunard, an aristocratic poet and Henry Crowder, a black American jazz pianist.  Set against the backdrop of roaring twenties Europe and America, Nancy and Henry's tumultuous relationship is challenged not only by Nancy's social climbing, narcissistic Mother, Emerald but by the antagonistic forces of racism. Our series unfolds within the intoxicating world of post-war France. Nancy and Henry's paths align like star-crossed lovers in a hotel Jazz bar in Paris. Their love story plays out against the complexities of the art world, from the intellectual circles of the Surrealists and Imagists in Paris to the smoky Jazz bars and brothels of Chicago and Harlem.
