Karen and Nati, a lesbian couple with three kids, flee Israel post-October 7th only to land in their own psychological warzone – otherwise known as living with Karen's father, Dr. Simon Churi in his crumbling villa near Paris. A retired veterinarian, Simon lives with his unconscious wife, Denise. Initially charming, he wins over the grandchildren with magic tricks and introduces them to his talking parrot, Hugo. He assigns the "refugees" to the villa's second floor, while he—the puppeteer—controls the first, leaving the ground floor for Denise's care. Having sworn never to return to her father's control, Karen finds herself trapped by both his dominance and a loan he won't let her forget.
