Oya Berkun

Born in 1977, Berkun Oya started writing for theatre, film and TV in his early twenties. He became the youngest playwright commissioned by the State Theatre of Turkey. He founded Krek Company in 1999, both a production and publishing house as well as one of the most influential contemporary theatre companies based in Istanbul nowadays. Now an acclaimed writer, director and screenwriter, his TV series have obtained licenses throughout the world while their ready mades have been sold in more than twenty countries, including the United States, Russia, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Oya wrote, produced and directed his latest series ‘Ethos’ for Netflix, which came out in 2021 and was critically heralded by both the press and viewers.
