Martin Hirsch is a French senior official and politician, known for his commitment to the social and healthcare sectors.

Hirsch began his career as a doctor, working in Paris hospitals. He then turned to the civil service, holding a number of important positions in the health and social sectors. From 2003 to 2007, he was Chief Executive Officer of Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP).

In 2007, Martin Hirsch was appointed High Commissioner for Active Solidarity against Poverty by President Nicolas Sarkozy. He played a key role in setting up the Revenu de Solidarité Active (RSA), a social benefit designed to combat poverty. He subsequently held a number of government posts, including High Commissioner for the Social Solidarity Economy and Social Innovation, and Chairman of the Civic Service Agency.

In addition to his career in the civil service, Martin Hirsch is also the author of several books on social issues, such as the fight against poverty and civic engagement.
