Lola Lafon is the author of eight novels, all translated into many languages including The Little Communist Who Never Smiled (Actes Sud 2014), which questions autobiography by embracing the mysterious identity of the Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci; it has been translated into eleven languages and has won several awards including the Madame Figaro Heroine Prize, the Closerie de Lilas Prize and the Etonnants Voyageurs Prize. It is currently being adapted into a mini-series.
Chavirer (Actes Sud 2020) is the portrait of a young dancer, Cléo, whose life is turned upside down by a chilling event, forcing her into silence. This novel has been translated in sixteen countries, and has been awarded the Landerneau Prize, the France Culture Télérama Prize and the Swiss Goncourt Prize. It is currently being adapted for film.
Quand tu écouteras cette chanson (When You Listen to this Song, Stock 2022) was awarded the Prix Décembre, the Prix Les Inrockuptibles and the Grand prix des lectrices ELLE 2023. It was adapted as a documentary by director Mona Achache.
Lola Lafon writes a column in Libération, which forms the basis of her latest book Il n’a jamais été trop tard (It Has Never Been Too Late, Stock 2025), a personal account reviewing the political events of the last two years. She has also written a play in which she performs, produced by the Théâtre du Rond Point which has enjoyed three runs and a tour since its creation in the autumn of 2023.
