Laïla MARRAKCHI

Laïla Marrakchi is a director and a screenwriter.

Marock, her first feature movie, is presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 in the section “Un Certain Regard”. It portrays the blissful youth of Casablanca, with a young Muslim girl falling in love with a young Jewish boy. For her second feature Rock the Casbah, released in 2013, she gathers a prestigious cast: Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Lubna Azabal, Morjana Alaoui, and Omar Sharif as a special guest.
