Winner of the Best Actor award in last year’s Panorama category for the series Soviet Jeans (2024), Kārlis Arnolds Avots is a Latvian actor. Signing his first contract with a theatre company just two years into his studies, he became the youngest professional actor in Latvia. Today, he is a member of the country’s largest theatre troupe and has received the Best Young Artist award for his role in the play Crime and Punishment, based on the novel by Dostoevsky, as well as in Duncan Macmillan’s play Lungs. On screen, he played the lead role in the film January (2022), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. In 2024, Kārlis Arnolds Avots played a rock’n’roll fan who manages to set up a jeans factory in the USSR, then engaged in fierce anti-Western propaganda, in the eight episodes of the series Soviet Jeans.
