For her film debut, Emmanuelle Béart was discovered by Claude Berri (Jean de Florette and Manon des sources, earning her the César for Best Actress in a Supporting Role). She has played major roles in French cinema under the direction of Claude Sautet, André Téchiné, Olivier Assayas, François Ozon, or Virginie Despentes. She also played the female lead in Brian De Palma’s Mission Impossible.

She has a parallel career on stage, notably with Stanislas Nordey, who chose her as associate artist at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg. Recently, she was seen in Margaux Hartmann by Ludovic Bergery, The Passengers of the Night by Mikhaël Hers, and the series Syndrome E for TF1, presented last year at Series Mania.
