Alice BRAGA

International Competition Jury

Born in 1983, in São Paulo, Brazil, Alice Braga comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts — her aunt is the iconic Brazilian actress Sônia Braga. She first gained international attention with the acclaimed City of God (2002) directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund. Hollywood soon followed, casting her in major productions such as I Am Legend (2008), Predators (2010), Elysium (2013), and The Suicide Squad (2021), where she established herself as a familiar face of American cinema. On television, she gained widespread recognition starring as Teresa Mendoza in Queen of the South (2016–2021), and went on to appear in Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are (2020), the sci-fi thriller Dark Matter (2024), and the mini-series A Murder at the End of the World (2023). She’ll be part of the series Man on Fire on Netflix in 2026. One of the most versatile actresses of her generation, Braga seamlessly moves between blockbusters, auteur projects, and television.
