Mathieu Kassovitz looks back on his career as an actor and director in an interview illustrated with excerpts. Mathieu Kassovitz has directed a number of French cinema staples, including Métisse (1993) and La Haine (1995). He has also directed Assassin(s) (1997), Les Rivières Pourpres (2000), Gothika (2003), Babylon A.D. (2008) and L’ordre et la morale (2011). His acting credits include Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain (2001), Costa-Gavras’ Amen (2002), Steven Spielberg’s Munich (2005), Michael Haneke’s Happy End (2017) and, more recently, Samuel Jouy’s Sparring and Antonin Baudry’s Le chant du Loup. From 2015 to 2020, he starred in Eric Rochant’s hit series Le Bureau des légendes, on Canal+. In 2015, he also played Napoleon Bonaparte in Andrew Davies’ mini-series War and Peace, broadcast on the BBC. He made his first appearance in a TV series at the age of 11 in 1978 in the series Médecins de nuit, created by Bernard Kouchner and Hervé Chabalier and broadcast on Antenne 2.
