A leading figure in French comedy, Jean-Pascal Zadi is a true multi-hyphenate talent. Originally starting in the music industry, he transitioned into directing music videos and documentaries before moving into fiction. In 2011, he directed the feature film Sans pudeur ni morale, featuring iconic French comedians Thomas Ngijol and Fabrice Eboué.
Zadi’s unique comedic voice, often playing heightened versions of himself, shined in projects like Validé and I Love Peru, but it was the satirical tour de force Tout simplement noir (Simply Black), which he co-directed with John Wax, that brought him national acclaim. The film was a critical and commercial hit, earning him the César Award for Most Promising Actor. Continuing in this satirical vein, he will soon appear in the highly anticipated series Tout simplement fan by Eric Judor and Ramzy Bedia.
Following this breakout success, Zadi has become a mainstay of French cinema, starring in high-profile films such as Quentin Dupieux’s Smoking Causes Coughing, Michel Hazanavicius’s Final Cut, and the romantic epic Beating Hearts. On the small screen, he co-created the 2023 Netflix hit series En place (Represent), portraying a youth worker who unexpectedly becomes the President of France. He is currently starring in the film Le rêve américain and will soon lead the new series Surveillant! alongside Audrey Lamy.
