Summer 2016. While British politicians were campaigning for the Brexit referendum, behind closed doors, the strategists were setting out their battle plans. The shadowy figure of Dominic Cummings (Benedict Cumberbatch), the architect of “Vote Leave” strategy and tactics, was perhaps the key player in the story, insisting that electioneering should be data-driven using social media algorithms to reach hidden potential voters.
