Boarders

Boarders is a high energy, coming of age comedy drama which follows the lives of five talented black inner-city teenagers navigating their way through an alien world – the British public school system. Following a problematic viral video involving a student, our leads are offered sixth form scholarships to St Gilbert’s, in an attempt to rehabilitate the image of one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious schools.

Our take

Incredibly funny and joyful, Boarders boldly tackles the questions of social discrimination and institutional racism through the lives of five Black teenagers from London, invited to attend a prestigious English private school, to restore the damaged reputation of an institution not known for its diversity. With a five-star cast, the series brilliantly demolishes clichés one by one.
