The whole of Lille goes series mad! In addition to the main festival plenty of exciting series-related events are hosted by the various cultural and volunteer networks in the city and surrounding area. As such, we created the “SERIES MANIA OFF” label to spotlight all these initiatives that are bringing a new dimension to the event. Everyone is welcome!
Open Museum #5 TV Series

The Natural History Museum, 19 rue de Bruxelles, Lille
Take a trip through time and space with animation star Petit Malabar and experience the Natural History Museum in Lille like you’ve never seen it before. This is a chance for young and old alike to learn more about the museum and its collection, including a special meteorite that is coming out of storage specially for the event. Organized by the Natural History Museum in partnership with Tchack Production.

The complete Out 1: Noli me tangere by Jacques Rivette
Cinéma l’Univers, 16 Rue Georges Danton, Lille
Experience Jacques Rivette’s eight-part 13-hour film in full, featuring an entire generation of French cinema including Éric Rohmer, Françoise Fabian, Jean-Pierre Léaud, and Bernadette Lafont. This is a unique opportunity to see a restored version of this New Wave masterpiece in its entirety on the big screen. The screening takes place on Thursday 3 May in the presence of Véronique Rivette (the widow of Jacques Rivette), actress in the movie Hermine Karagheuz, and Pacôme Thiellement, (writer and specialist on the work). Organized in tandem with the team from Cinéma l’Univers and the Nayra association.

Round-table debate: The impact of hip-hop on series
FLOW – Centre Eurorégional des Cultures Urbaines, 2 rue de Fontenoy, Lille
What influence has hip-hop had on cop and urban thriller series? How does it help convey a more authentic black subjectivity? What links are there between French rap and French series? These three topies will allow us to evaluate the impact of hip-hop on series, using video extracts to illustrate the debate, in the company of academics, critics, activists, and journalists.
Organized by FLOW in partnership with Célia Sauvage (Professor of Film Studies and Head of Teaching at the Sorbonne and specialist in American cultural studies) and the Trous d’mémoire company.

Last Man masterclass

SERIES MANIA comes to L’hybride for the evening, for a screening of several episodes of Last Man and a masterclass with director Jérémie Périn, writer Laurent Sarfati, and co-producer Matthieu Liégeois, to explore insights from the series.
